About Glitter Cowgirl Equine Services

Meet Laura Smyth

Founder • Horsewoman • Animal Advocate

Hi, I’m Laura Smyth—Kansas born and raised, and the proud founder of Glitter Cowgirl Equine Services. My journey has taken me from small-town roots in rural Southwest Kansas to the East Coast and back again, but one thing has always remained constant: my deep love for animals.

A Life Rooted in Care

Growing up, I was the kid always caring for some kind of animal; baby bunnies, chicks, or a bucket calf. Though I never had a horse of my own as a child, I knew one day I would. While my path led me into the world of computers and technology, my heart never strayed far from animals.

Dreams Realized

In 2005, I made my childhood dream a reality with the purchase of Pretty—a stunning Palomino Paint mare with one brown eye, one blue. She’s been my loyal riding partner ever since and now helps teach my grandkids to ride. Today, I’m training my next trail companion, a spirited BLM Mustang named Renegade.

Passion Meets Purpose

Over the years, I’ve cared for an incredible variety of animals—from fish and reptiles to birds, small mammals, cats, and dogs (most of them trained by me). I even ran a thriving pet-sitting business until 9/11 changed the way people traveled. Now, with my kids grown and grandkids in tow, I’ve returned to my roots and launched Glitter Cowgirl Equine Services to turn my lifelong passion into purpose.

What Drives Me

I believe in compassionate, ethical care for every animal. My goal is to support horse owners and others with services that are grounded in trust, experience, and a deep respect for the animals we love. Whether I’m on the trail with my horses or helping others care for theirs, I bring heart, skill, and a whole lot of grit to everything I do.  While my focus is on horses, I work with animals of all sizes, including small animals, house pets, and other livestock.
